Embedded Firmware Design Engineer

As an embedded firmware design engineer, the candidate is responsible for the design and development of C/C++ based real-time firmware. The candidate must have experience designing, analyzing, integrating, and testing software/firmware at the board, subsystem, and system levels. The candidate will understand system requirements, develop detailed functional requirements, debug and test new product designs, and develop product test plans to meet product specifications. Candidate must exhibit a strong work ethic, set a high standard for quality, and be effective both as an independent contributor and as part of a team.

Have an M.Sc or B.Sc in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 6+ years of product development experience, or relative equivalent focusing on real-time embedded design projects within the past three years.

• Embedded control systems programming for a real-time operating system environment utilizing modern 32-bit RISC processors. Recent ARM9 experience a plus.
• Structured programming with C/C++ a must Linux and gcc compiler experience a plus
• Ability to write low level boot code, device drivers & application level code targeting an embedded Linux environment
• Strong hardware/software debugging experience utilizing tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG debuggers, GDB
• Experience with RS-232, USB, and Ethernet communications
• Able to work quickly, independently, and prioritize critical tasks
• Exceptional communication skills, written and oral

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with software version control systems such as Subversion
• Programming CPLD/PLDs and other programmable devices
• Experience with PIC processors
